Dear Neighbors and Friends,

I want to encourage you to elect Michael Clara to the Salt Lake City School Board. I met Michael about ten years ago as we stood shoulder to shoulder in many meetings and several organized gatherings of protest over Union Pacific’s reactivating of the abandoned 900 South rail line. Michael helped organize the community and fought against the reactivation of freight trains as though they were in his front yard like they were in mine (Hayes Ave.)

If you live along or near 900 South, you owe Michael a debt of gratitude, you owe him your vote!

Michael fought for the welfare of our community and the students at Parkview Elementary like no other. While others gave up on the fight, Michael never did. Michael had the foresight to hold our elected officials to their word.

The city ‘should have told us, right then and there that the urban trail was no longer part of the master plan.’ But, according to Clara, city officials told residents nothing about the possibility of freight trains returning to their neighborhoods…” (Were Residents Misled on U.P. Line? Deseret News –May,22, 2002).

This past summer, the City will built a bike trail where trains once traveled. This is a vision that Michael has been fighting for since 2001.

When you cast your vote this year, ask yourself: What other School Board candidate has the history that spans a decade of success when it comes to improving our community?” Your answer will have to be: MICHAEL CLARA!
