In these two audios you will hear the superintendent and board president deflect any discussion on the OCR complaint and remain noncommittal to even allowing for discussion of the issue much less any type of solutions.
This attitude by the two of them is normal behavior in that they have no desire to discuss educational challenges facing ethnic minority students within the district.
What makes their behavior so odd in this instance is that fact that on July 1, 2013, I received a letter from the school district attorney stating: “The board hopes that there would be a resulting dialogue where you and a majority of the Board can consider any necessary changes to board policy”.
The attorney goes on to say: “I have informed OCR that I intend to contact you about attempting to come to an understanding of your concerns and be able to consider any appropriate resolutions”.
The audios will clearly demonstrate that there is no desire on the superintendent or board president’s part to “consider appropriate resolutions”.
