Superintendent Withers received a 5%<\/del>\u00a06% Increase\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am updating this posting. I initially stated that the Superintendent received a 5% increase. I was alerted to the fact that he also received the 1% COLA increase awarded to the employees. That puts his increase at 6%.<\/em><\/p>\n

In last night\u2019s School Board meeting, I made a motion to amend the proposed budget:<\/p>\n

I proposed a 3% Cost of Living Increase for the employees of the District as opposed to the 1% proposed in the budget.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The majority of the School Board voted against the motion and instead voted to give the District employees 1%.<\/p>\n

I made the motion because I don\u2019t \u00a0think it is fair that the Superintendent receives a 5%<\/del>\u00a06% annual increase (2% longevity + 3% bonus + 1% COLA) and the employees are only receiving a 1% increase.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, we never looked at or considered alternatives to a tax hike.<\/p>\n
