Parents for Choice in Education is dedicated to ensuring every child has equal access to a quality education by empowering parents, increasing choice, and promoting innovative solutions to Utah\u2019s educational challenges.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Link: Parent for Choice in Education<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the March 19, 2013, School Board meeting<\/strong> the issue of Senate Bill 271 School Grading Amendment, was brought up by the Superintendent.<\/p>\n Link to Bill<\/a><\/p>\n Superintendent Withers stated\u00a0that the House members were confused about the bill and he expressed disappointment in the Senate President.<\/p>\n Board President Swett & Superintendent Whithers<\/p><\/div>\n Board President Kristi Swett also weighed in on the conversation:<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s become really apparent that there is a particular special interest group <\/span><\/em>[Parents For Choice in Education]<\/span> that he <\/span><\/em>[Governor]<\/span> is recognizing and\u00a0shouldn’t\u00a0be in the middle of these conversations\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThey <\/span><\/em>[Parents For Choice in Education]<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span>were involved in involved in actually writing this bill [SB271] and when you have a special interest group write a bill over public education, that\u00a0shouldn’t\u00a0be happening\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n This part of the meeting was edited out<\/strong> of the March 19,2013, School Board meeting audio that is posted on the district web page:<\/p>\n \n Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip.
