Re: Second Agenda Request – Unauthorized District Reorganization

Dear President Bennett,
I write to renew my request to have the issue of the Superintendent’s proposed School District reorganization, placed on the Board meeting agenda scheduled for November 3, 2015.

On October 26, 2015, I received an email from you, in which you acknowledged that two Board members submitted an agenda request for the same topic, in part of your email you stated the following:

Please remember that Board Policy B-2 states: “In general, scheduling of topics is at the discretion of board leadership, but if two or more board members submit a request that a topic be placed on the agenda, that request will be accommodated within two meetings.”

In your email, you go on to point out that the “next meeting”, is scheduled for Monday, 10/26/15, and you explain why you did not want to place this issue on that meetings agenda, leaving the impression that you would have it included on the November, 3, 2015, meeting agenda. That agenda was posted on Friday and for some odd reason, does not have this item listed.

As it now stands, not only are you in violation of Board Policy B-2, you have also silenced the voice of those who elected me to represent their interest on matters of Education. I ask that you respect the fact that two of your fellow Board members have met the threshold needed to have this weighty matter placed on the agenda “within two meetings”. I ask that you exercise some measure of integrity and have the Business Administrator issue a revised agenda before 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Shalom,
J. Michael Clára
Board Member, District 2
