Superintendent Withers received a 5% 6% Increase
I am updating this posting. I initially stated that the Superintendent received a 5% increase. I was alerted to the fact that he also received the 1% COLA increase awarded to the employees. That puts his increase at 6%.
In last night’s School Board meeting, I made a motion to amend the proposed budget:
I proposed a 3% Cost of Living Increase for the employees of the District as opposed to the 1% proposed in the budget.
The majority of the School Board voted against the motion and instead voted to give the District employees 1%.
I made the motion because I don’t think it is fair that the Superintendent receives a 5% 6% annual increase (2% longevity + 3% bonus + 1% COLA) and the employees are only receiving a 1% increase.
Furthermore, we never looked at or considered alternatives to a tax hike.
